Yesterday I saw a hiker on the side of the road. He had a back pack and looked like he was traveling.
We're not far from the Appalachian trail, so that's not so unual. But he had a black lab with him and the dog also had a back pack
I think the dog carries his own bed, dish and food.

the dog probably carries his own water, too. several years ago, i read the most inspirational book called 'Walking Home'. it's the memoir of a woman who walked the entire AT alone and discovered herself along the way.
